Data Protection and Freedom of Information Policy

Objectives

Our Data Protection and Freedom of Information Policy aims to provide clear, practical procedures that pertain to information governance for staff and governors to follow and monitor in line with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018, the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

As a maintained primary school, Thomas Jones holds information on pupils, parents/carers and staff in order to support teaching and learning, monitor and report on progress, provide appropriate pastoral care and assess the quality of that which is afforded. Periodically, information will be shared with the Local Education Authority and the Department for Education to inform local and national statistics. Some information may also be passed on to future schools.

All personal information is handled in line with data protection principles. If the processing of personal information is processed by others on our behalf we ensure that they follow the data protection principles and do so securely.

We keep confidential information secure when storing it, using it and when sharing with others.

Please contact the school directly if you have any concerns related to the security of data or if you want to access your personal data or wish it to be deleted or removed.
