Year 5 Assembly - Saving the Amazon
Earlier this month, Year 5 staged their production of 'Paddington saves the Amazon'.
The play outlined the growing concerns on the impact that deforestation is causing to the world. It was structured around a debate, led by Jonathon and Judy Brown, with the leading question 'Is deforestation ruining the Amazon rainforest?'. We heard many contrasting views, from a range of visitors, including WWF workers, employees of the Amazon rainforest, locals and animals. The assembly concluded with Thomas Jones being in support of the argument, believing- from what they heard- that deforestation is impacting those in the Amazon. Sandwiched either end, were two songs, sang beautifully by the Year 5 scholars: London is the place for me and In the Jungle.
