A Bountiful Harvest - The Thomas Jones Harvest Festival

Year 2 created a joyous celebration of the season, bringing together storytelling, music and the spirit of community.

Inspired by the much-loved traditional tale of The Enormous Turnip, the children reminded us that even the most seemingly impossible task can be accomplished through the combined efforts of family, friends and animals. A charming lesson in teamwork, perseverance and the value of every contribution.

Resplendent in their delightful costumes, the children performed with confidence and infectious enthusiasm. Four catchy songs were sung with considerable gusto, filling the hall with warmth and good cheer. Their performance captured the heart of the story beautifully: that when we pull together, small contributions can yield an abundant harvest.

The spirit of harvest extended well beyond the stage. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our parents and carers, a wonderful array of food items and treats was collected and delivered by our class councillors to the residents of Thomas Darby Court, where the donations were received with great delight. This thoughtful gesture offered a valuable opportunity to teach our young learners that harvest is not simply a time to celebrate nature’s bounty, but also a moment to reflect on our responsibilities towards others.
