Year 6 Black and Blue Project

Thomas Jones was selected to be one of the Year 6 classes to take part in ‘Black and Blue’ sessions with Paul Canoville, Chelsea’s first black footballer who became a  addict following the premature end to his football career.

This initiative has been borne out of a shift in government policy, with drug education now a key feature of late primary education in preparation for children’s journey into secondary school. In this instance, the dangers and perils of drug abuse was told through the lens of a footballer. The initiative involved a full day workshop at school and a visit to Stamford Bridge football stadium to meet the footballer. The children were very positive about the sessions.
