Waltham Place Farm

Year 3 and 5 have recently visited Waltham Place Farm, to learn about food production, pollinators and wildlife linked to science learning.

The children were greeted by joyful lambs, fed the pigs, admired the cows and searched for bees in the walled garden. They also learnt more about the role of a farmer.

The vast grounds of the farm, including woodland, were explored. The children hunted for bugs and insects using magnifying glasses, wondering at their details, as well as considering what they have to do to survive and thrive in their surroundings.

The wonders of a badgers’ set, a family of geese and the resident rescue cats were enjoyed by all.

Thomas Jones pupils have enjoyed visiting this biodynamic and organic farm in Berkshire for many years and we are extremely grateful to them for this wonderful opportunity.
